Many of us have wondered how August Farm got its name.  Here is the scoop…

Dani White got her first pony, Heidi, a 10 year old dun Shetland when she was 10 years old.  She got the pony on August 1st.

At the age of 14, her parents told her that if she could earn the money for a horse, she could get one. Dani worked very hard grooming for people at horse shows, braiding, mucking stalls, pet sitting, and working the summer camp at Glean Maura Farm.  She earned enough money and her parents kept to the agreement.  Dani got her first horse, Snitch, an 11 year old thoroughbred mare, when she was 15 years old.  She got the horse on August 1st.

Dani started her first boarding stable after high school.  She started the farm on… you guessed it, August 1st!  She needed a name for the farm, and since August 1st seemed to be a fateful day in Dani’s life with horses, she thought it very appropriate to call the place “August Farm”.

Dani moved August Farm to Broad Hill Equestrian Center in November, 2003.  Due to contractual agreements, the Broad Hill sign must stay, but Dani’s hard work has truly transformed the place into August Farm!
